Ying Bao

About

Ying Bao is currently an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ying’s research focuses on digital marketing, behavioral economics, food consumption, and consumer well-being. Specifically, Ying studies how quality disclosure affects firms' entry and exit decisions. She also investigates the marketing implications of advances in consumption tracking technologies, such as mobile banking applications that help consumers monitor their spending and avoid penalty fees for overdrawn accounts. She uses both analytical and empirical methods to examine her research questions. Her work has been published in top-tier journals such as Management Science and so on. Her teaching interests include marketing analytics, consumer analytics, and marketing research. Ying received her PhD, MA, and BSc from the University of Toronto.
