Nita Umashankar holds the position of Associate Professor of Marketing at the Fowler College of Business, San Diego State University. She earned her doctoral degree in marketing strategy from The University of Texas at Austin in 2010. Dr. Umashankar's research focuses on examining the influence of corporate decision-making and strategy on marketing outcomes, with a particular interest in shifting the conventional emphasis of marketing principles from purely maximizing returns for firms to addressing broader societal issues. Her scholarly contributions have been featured in esteemed academic outlets, including Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Dr. Umashankar actively contributes to the academic community as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Marketing Research, in addition to serving on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
